An awkward experience is when you believe, and know, that you are just a stinky worm. Then you wake up and realize that you're a stinky, worthless flea. Now that's kinda hard to deal with. I'm in therapy now for it.

My most awkward and embarrasing moment in life was when I wanted to buy my mother a card just because. I was on my lunch break and decided to go to this flower shop. The flower shop was inside an underground shopping area and had glass walls. I misjudged the entrance and hit one of the glass walls full force like a fly on a windshield. Two ladies were standing inside and saw the whole thing. I will never forget the look on their faces! I didn't know what to do. You can't exactly play off something like that. I walked in the shop looked briefly at a few things and walked out and went somewhere else. I remember thinking "What will the clerk think if I go to the counter to buy something, will she think I'm crazy?" I hope this qualifies as an awkward experience. I definately make sure I find the EXACT entrance whenever I am in a mall.

Ok,lol. Recently, I was introduced to a woman at my workplace.Let's call her Mrs.Googleheimer. I said to the lovely 50-something Mrs.G,"Oh--that's interesting--that's my son's school principal's surname.Sophie? Sophie Googleheimer?Any relation?"(and this Sophie is twenty or so years her junior)She says "No". Now any normal person would have left it there, but not me...no--I had to go on about how really that was amazing, because we live in such a small town, and it's unusual to fing two people with such an unusual name who aren't related...etc, etc, blah blah.
Eventually, I finish talking. There is a short pause ,after which she says"Well actually, she's married to my ex-husband."
After removing my foot from my big mouth, I say "Oh , I'm sorry!"
To which she says "So am I" rather curtly.
'm not very easy to embarrass, but that was slightly "awkward",lol. Hope that helps.

An awkward experience is one where you do something and feel out of place. Like offering your hand out for a hand shake and realizing the person you are extending your hand to doesn't have a hand.

A couple months ago a sales rep in our office was talking REALLY BAD about one of our graphic artists when he walked in to give her a souvenir that he had bought for her while he was on vacation.

She did not see him walk in and talked really, really bad about him for another (at least) ten seconds before she realized we had stopped listening and were looking at the artist behind her. Allthewhile this artist was behind her... holding her gift... listening to her call him every name in the book.

Just goes to show you... don't gossip in the workplace!

hmmm, an awkward experience (in my opinion) is one that could be embarassing, make you nervous and shaky, deja vu, ect...
An awkward time for me was when my ex-husband had to come and stay with me and my current husband for a couple of days.
Then attending his funeral.
