They treat it like a handout, and if there is a threat, they hide behind their placard and white flag.

I'm a conservative. I hate it when liberals call me names. I'm sure thay don't like it either.

If we truly want to understand the other side's POV we need to try to start an exchange of ideas. More talking and less taunting.

Most liberals I've debated with are of the honest belief that there are powerful forces that, if left unchecked, will abuse the helpless little people.

Most conservatives believe that the most powerful force that impacts your life is that which comes from within the individual.

Each POV is correct some of the time. I happen to believe that the conservative view is more generally correct. It's worked well for me in my life. And haven't had to abuse anyone to succeed.

In fact I believe that I've provided more than a few people with the opportunity to learn that they can be successful through the fruits of their own labor.

Others may disagree, but I wouldn't call them jackasses (at least not most of them).

Because they don't understand the sacrifices that the average person must make to achieve that freedom. The millions of soldiers that have died, taxes, putting up with what is pretty much a police state to ensure that we have less criminals on our streets, having to secure our borders so those who would like to see our freedoms vanish are not allowed in. The jackasses would like to think that we are born "naturally free" and should probably be the ones overseas fighting and give us decent folk a chance to relax for a while.

The Iraqi war seemed like the right thing to do three years ago, but in retrospect it was a bad desicion. Three years ago, half of those liberals were pleased that we were beating up on Saddam. They just choose not what is now the losing side.
But not seeking retribution after 9-11 was unpatriotic, and now both parties are trying to make it so that they only way to be a patriot or to even love this country is to be conservative.

When did any "liberal" (and by that you seem to mean someone who doesn't like President Bush) say freedom was free? Honestly when?

If by freedom not being free you are referring to the war in Iraq then you might want to recite to me what sacrifices President Bush has asked us to make. There aren't any. He has told us to go shopping. He cut taxes during a war (and don't whoop about that because I saved all of five dollars and it's a safe bet I make more money that you). He borrowed the money for the war from the Chinese and Saudis and the way this war is going it will be raging long after Bush leaves office in 2009.

And more importantly what have YOU done? I give blood, so there are soldiers alive today because of me. Looks to me like your sacrifice consists of insulting two-thirds of the American people from behind the keyboard in your mother's house.

Here's the most recent poll I could find vote_4_my_an....

http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1733207,00050001.htm

That poll has Bush at 35%. Since 65% of us don't like him that's just shy of two-thirds being liberal by your definition of people who don't like Bush. In terms of what "liberal" meant until 2000, Bush is the most liberal President that this nation has ever seen--nation-building, big government, oceans of red ink, censorship, and massive illegal immigration.

Oh and one more thing. You never bothered to respond to anything else I typed, just nitpicked one thing. You posted something best left to freerepublic or hannity.com because you never wanted a real answer. My guess is you are somebody who desperately wants to feel macho by glomming onto talk radio politics, when you probably can't even change a tire on your own.

Because they're not as smart as those brilliant conservatives that are willing to give away their freedoms and civil rights by supporting the Patriot Act. Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot that we're not entitled to criticize President Bush notwithstanding the First Amendment. I forgot that only real Americans are willing to give up the Bill of Rights so long as it's all for being in lock step with the Republican Party.

You have it backwards. For example, the ACLU recognizes that freedom is not free; that's why they support the Nazis' right to march and speak.

Bush, however, does not realize that freedom is not free, and that you have to preserve freedom even when you are scared. His willingness to suspend freedoms by failing to get FISA warrants and holding people in Guantanamo without charges for years reflects this. He needs to grow some balls and not be so terrified that he forgets what country he lives in. Ben Franklin did not think much of people who would trade freedom for perceived safety, and I don't either.

Freedom is not free. You have to respect human freedom and civil rights, even when you are repulsed or afraid.

Hey a.sshole I'm a liberal but I ******** know it isn't free, I'm ready to fight as much as the conservatives are, so quit generalizing, I'd sooner shoot myself than hide behind a white flag. You think I like the idea of terrorist bombing my home in New York?

One of our founding fathers said: "Occasionally the Tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of Patriots."

Many people take this for granted. I served 8 years in the US Army. I helped "win" the cold war, and I provided support for Desert Storm. I don't take my freedom for granted.

Thomas Jefferson said: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will give my life so you can say it." With Freedom of Speech we have to let everyone talk, even those with whom we disagree with. But, I often wish they knew first hand just how expensive freedom really is; in money, blood, sweat, and tears.
