I am a Portugal fan (no need to abuse me on that one, I'm taking the loss with some dignity), but want to get into the final match. I already know Italy's team fairly well (strategy, strengths and weaknesses). I need to know the inside deal on France so I can really feel a part of this final, other than Zidane who I already have a tremendous amount of respect for. Thanks in advance, fellow WC fans!

Thierry Henry- Superb pace, finishing ability, and dribbingly skill. Arguabley the most graceful player in the world.

Franck Ribery- Relentless pursuit of the ball and tremendous energy.

Patrick Viera- Great at controlling the ball and distributing. Also strong with headers & defense.

Claude Makelele- Steals balls in midfield and distributes to Zidane and/or Viera.

Willy Sagnol- Reasonably strong defender who also makes attacking runs down the side of the field.

Lilian Thuram- Rock solid defender. Wins most 50-50 balls.

Hope that helps!

Check out Viera Patrick on wikipedia. It was always easy to tell that he was a good player just by looking at him on the pitch. He seems to thrive in the football environment. Great guy, and it seems like he can do it all. See him head balls out in defense, run a counter attack through midfield, and be heavily involved in the offense, by scoring or assisting. He's a great player, sure to be involved, sure to be fun to watch.

Thierry Henry is extremely talented. He keeps himself to finishing for the national team and he is very capable. He is very quick, and can use his wits to break past defenses to net goals one on one with the goalie. He is a highly entertaining player because of his high rate of delivery. It is the case that this blurb does not do him justice.

Frank Ribery (in addition to Henry, Viera and Zidane) helps complete the French national sides most famous ballhandling quartet. I haven't heard of him really outside of the world cup, but the man can perform. Ribery is a work-a-holic who makes runs that probe and pass defenses along the side of the pitch as well as straight through the heart of the defense. A capable scorer in his own right. He is no less capable a ball handler (in his own way) than Henry or Zidane. He is an essential piece and even a manager when it comes to scoring goals, but all the french players seem to be interchangable parts.

These are just a few players I think you should look out for. The whole french team is amazing to me though. If I knew them all well, you'd have 23 blurbs(23 man team) from me about who to watch.
