Zinedine Zidane.
He was considered old .. no one expected him to perform well in this World Cup, and yet he led France to the final.
His performance in all of France's matches are distinguishable too ... he stood out and played really well.
I'd day, Zinedine Zidane from France for best player.

raptor please dont talk nonsense...the penalty was very much fair. Agree Carvalho didnt deliberately tackle..it seemed more of a reflex action..but was still a foul. Portugal didnt deserve any penalty they really did dive many times...had the ref been less lenient there might have been few cards...
Anyway I think only one player has performed well in every match
FABIO CANNAVARO .... he held his own brilliantly with the absince of Nesta...against 3 potent attacking sides Czech Republc, Ukraine & Germany

1. The penalty against Spain that he created...I only saw one replay and it didnt look like it to me.
2. And the penalty against Portugal that honestly wasn't that was a really bad call ...the guy stepped on his foot and he goes flying...
