We had both, and actually neither was that reliable...the Toyota (it was an '04 Sienna) had the slight edge mechanically, but we had several problems with the rear folding seats, leaky a/c, sensors, badly designed seatbelts, and plastic interior trim breaking, and had a couple instances of the traction control warning light coming on as though something had malfunctioned, but turning off again as soon as the vehicle was restarted. The dealerships were some of the most unhelpful people I have ever dealt with, as well.
Conversely, the Dodge (ours were a pair '96's) had some transmission problems and a problem with the accessory drive belt on the engine getting shredded every 30k miles, but never had any other problems of any sort whatsoever. The dealerships seemed decent enough; they were not nearly as bad as the Toyota dealers I dealt with, but didn't distinguish themselves in that regard, either.
As for gas mileage, neither will ever probably break 20mpg in mixed driving, so it's a draw there.
Otherwise, it's up to whose styling you like better and which dealer has a better reputation in your area.

my previous girlfriend's family had a 2004 Sienna, it has various mechanical problems; replacing engine speed sensors, aggravating seat restraints, poorly designed folding seats and fuel consumption swings. they sold it last year and purchased a Chrysler Town & Country. basically, a luxury upgrade of the Dodge Caravan. that model has won numerous awards and her family is satisfied with it overall performance so far. from my friends' experiences, i would have to go with the recent Dodge/Chrysler minivans. hope Yahoo Answers helps you find the answers you seek.

Toyota has higher resale/trade-in value, and has a better rating in safety, service and repairs.
You might pay a little more, but in the long run, it's worth it.
And nobody beat me down because of that "buy american" crap--check out where YOUR AMERICAN car was built--mexico, canada....Toyota's are built by UAW workers right here in the USA.
