"Upon my brow a cold settles. I see myself as in a dream, apart from reality. I look into the wells of knowledge and see impending doom. Am I who I am, is salvation here? My heart is away from the rhythm of my pulse, do I live?"

Is he/she insane, dead, a spectator of pain, brokenhearted, etc.? Give your opinion.

Whiskey will do that too. The person could be snockered and delusional. But I give 'em credit for being rather poetic under the circumstances. Credit indeed.

Sounds like an out of body experience. Will the speaker re-enter his/her body ? They are wondering, am I dead ( is salvation here ? ) Only the next paragraph will answer this question

Maybe he/she is delirious--perhaps sick/bed-ridden? Has a fever? They cannot tell the difference between reality and a dream. They might be confused in this delirious-like state. He/She cannot tell if the people around him/her are really there or if they think he/she is dead. Very interesting quote.

This could be interpreted in so many ways.

But it definately has strong depressed undertones with hints of a looming disaster such as death which would explain the out of body feeling, etc.

I would say dying or possibly having a revelation of life? A deep though mixed with serveral emotions at once.

It seems as though the writer feels as though they are not themselves. Perhaps, they are changing... or moving on... from who they once were. Its pretty obvious that they feel different although they do not know if that is how they will remain.
