Old and forgotten. From a religious standpoint, the only thing you can take with you after this life is knowledge and wisdom, therefore it is the only thing that will gain you any advantage in the worlds to come. Knowledge and wisdom only being gained by obedience and dilligence through your old age on Earth. On a non-religious standpoint, you would very much be more likely to have healthy impact on more people with having more expiriences in life to teach yourself lessons you can pass on. Can you think of a single person who died young who as viewed as a hero rather than a celebrety? Now, can you think of an old person who IS known as a hero in your community or family?

I would rather die old and forgotten.
If I am old then I will have experienced a lot of things. People who are dying young often express a wish that they had "done more" in the time they had. I want to experience as much as possible--good and bad--before I die.
If I have a small family, that is fine: I have no desire to have a huge family. As long as everyone is fed and clothed and loved that's all that matters. If I have few friends that means they are close and I would rather mean something to 3 people I do know than to 3 million people I don't.

Just because you are old doesnt mean you will be forgotten. Your family will pass on your legacy. How can you then be forgotten.
I am already 47, but I feel like there is something big yet to come, so I would rather choose famous and die at an old age.

I think the question doesn't pose valid alternatives. The question shouldn't be between famous or forgotten, but between good and bad or virtuous and non-virtuous, or some other equally meaningful dichotomy. One might be famously evil or forgotten but a beautiful soul. My vote would be for a life beautifully lived, whatever the age, famous or not.

Well lets see here now, whats the deal. If I go for the ninety five I get fifty more years, and the twenty means I've been dead for the last twenty five years. Oh my God I'm famous! I've got to check the re runs on T.V. tonight and see if I'm on, I wonder who my agent is, maybe I can get the same guy that handles Elvis; he's dead too. Wow, this would explain everything.

To die famous and young because I will always be 25 years old when I died.

I think I would much rather die young and famous, only because I don't want to grow old and have to come to terms with death.

Old and forgotten seems to be a good ideal, but getting to 95, is a hell of long way, i like it short, as the Chinese saying goes:"ren sheng ku duan." its to ambiguous, i can't explain all, but one of the meaning it projects is live is short, so live the life u like

Old and forgotten. I enjoy watching people and listening to their story's about their lives and goings on. And if you think about it, we will all be forgotten someday. So why not just kick back and let it happen around you. Observe and wonder about it.
