Verlander did not get snubbed. True, he is having a very nice rookie season, but most of the other "final vote" candidates would (and should) be selected before him. Personally, I'd rather see Big V instead of Pudge (who simply got in on name recognition and fan ignorance/ballot stuffing) as the other Tiger rep along with The Gambler (and now Maggs, considering the crazy ManRam is pulling out).

Considering that the Tigers are in first and possibly looking at the post-season, the fans should want to see the best possible AL team out there for the All-Star game since it means the difference in home-field for the World Series (yes, I'm getting ahead of myself, but take it into account!) The best of the best AL team would not include V - at least not yet. He'll have many chances in the future though...

And don't get upset with Ozzie - if you want more players from your team on the final roster, beat his team and win a championship. (It's a product of one of the many flawed MLB systems.) You can also thank the NY and Red Sox fans for stuffing in their favs to make the AL team -almost too many of them!

what is this talk about rookies not being in the allstar game? It should be the players that are having the best seasons go to the allstar game. Liriano is better and will make it ahead of jv, aj shouldnt even be on there (and im a sox fan), hafner has some big numbers too. It SHOULD be between hafner and liriano but it wont be. Most fans dont really pay attention so they play the name game when they vote. I just need to set up some macros and emails so I can swing the votes next year to reflect the players that are doing the best trough the first half of the yr.

I do. It was a travesty, Verlander definitely should have been there. Instead Ozzie filled the team with his own pitchers, just a joke. Verlander is leading the Tigers into the pennant race, and should be honored with an All Star slot.

no valid reason he shouldn't be an all-star. rookies do have name recognition working against them. if this were last year with the game at comerica park, he would have gotten voted in (the pittsburgh effect this year.)

guillen might be a little bit jealous of the success the tigers are having this season, honestly, i wouldn't put it above him to hold a grudge. he's already got kenny rogers, verlander too? too bad magglio wasn't voted in, that would really get ozzy's goat!

I would have loved to see him in there....but in all honesty he is a rookie. Granted he is 10-4 with an incredible ERA and has been clocked at 103.

Managers usually like to take proven veterans---so no I am NOT upset.

Verlander has many many many good years ahead of him. He will have his day in the sun soon enough.

No. Personally I don't think rookies should make the team. They aren't fully developed yet and no one really knows what kind of player they really are yet.
