During my time in the philosophy section of yahoo answers, I noticed theres two main groups, the highly religious and the anti relgious (yes, I realize there are people in between those two groups. In fact, I am one of those people). In alot of the philosophy questions, the theists and atheists almost never agree, since the theists always turn to their holy book and the athiests to science.

It got me thinking, is there one thought in the world that everyone shares? Like, I would expect people would all want peace, but there are plenty of warheads and organizations that benefit from war that want war.

And then you would think everyone would want to eat or breathe, but people hang themselves and are anorexic and bulemic.

Then you think that maybe people just all wanna live. But theres plenty of suicidal people. I myself can almost be considered suicidal.

So is there one goal we all have? Or one thought we all share?

personal gain.

Scenario 1) good samaritan, thiest, peace lover- spends thier life doing good deeds. Good deeds make him feel good, feel closer to his diety, get him a place in afterlife

Scenario 2) corrupt, violent war-monger- twists the world to gain from it.

Even those who believe they are helping others for altruistic reasons do it because it makes them FEEL GOOD. Thus, personal gain.

Religion is a real problem. Varying groups with different concepts and imaginations wants to overcome the power of other groups and trying to prove that "we are the best".

If we consider the whole humanity - it needs to be a creation by a super brain. The limits of this argument is to prove certain factors physically. Because the life begins from invisibility and ends in invisibility. Take a white paper and colour its middle one/third part in red. Draw a line crossing all three sections using a pen that has ink of white colour. Now the line through red part is clearly visible and white part not.

Here the visible part is the life we live today. Otherwise it will become that we all are living in this world and it has no aim beyond. Will such a brilliant creation come into being without a purpose. Is it not foolishness to think that way?

Without knowing what is waiting us at the end, we can at least treat others as our equal beings and honour them the way we wish to be. That itself will make a lot of changes to this world.

Oh my you do think a lot.. hehe.. i do too.. I wanna take a philosophy class. .. I don't really know an answer to your question, but I do have a question for you.. dun dun dun.. hehe. How do you consider your self in between religious and anti. Because I believe i'm in between... I know i'm not religious.. and I'm definately not anti.. because then i'd be hating a lot of people for believing in what ever they may believe in.. I do believe in certain things.. but they're not necessarily "god/gods"

So maybe i did answer your question.. I guess we all share some sort of belief... Even though that is soo vague.. but I assume it's true.. But maybe you should ask that as another question.. to see if other people have some sort of belief...

I think a lot.. so much I'll be thinking one thing and a good 5 minutes later i'll be switching from one thing to another and i won't remember what got me there in the first place.. hehe

Anywho, i hope you find a good answer. :)

We all like cheese.

No, I'm just kidding. A universal thought, eh? We all want the best for ourselves, I guess. I don't mean we are all selfish, but we don't want a bowling ball to fall from the sky and hit is on our heads.

No matter how many people want peace, there will be one person (look at some world leaders) who will want to destroy the world. It goes that way for love, hate, peace, war, happiness, sadness. Everyone has a different view on life. That won't ever change, nor will it further. Opinions are those nasty little hairs in your playdough: you just can't get rid of them.

Everyone wants to be happy, finding their own place in the world. Those on the religious side have found their place not only in this world, but in worlds to come, and live a life that they believe would make them happy in life beyond this one. People on the other side do not believe in much of a life after this one, so they see the need to do what they can now, before they die. But, either way, everyone's finding thier own place in the world. Even if the place is to be a hermit in the woods to not bother anyone, it's still a place.

Well in fact there is one thing I've encountered at parties. It would appear to me that everyone goes to parties in one form or another, it seems to be our nature. We as a species celebrate things, Christenings, Bar Mitzi fa's(sorry for the spelling), Birthdays,Weddings, heck I've celebrated Thursday, but the point is everyone universally parties, even a church service is kind of like a celebration for the greater glory of God. So then it is to every ones benefit if we party, and I say the goal should be to chill it, don't spill; and find someone you can dance with! I think that should be the one thought we all share, heck I even think it could be the one thought we all share, or as close as were going to get. Thank you for this opportunity to express my opinion to you question, the sub text was very moving; I hope life is kind to you. P.S. The one thing I've encountered at parties and such is everyone wants to know where the bathroom is, that's universal too.

I think that the very nature of what is called "The Human Condition" is our ability to question the nature of our existence at all. Therefore one thought I think we all at one time share is "What is the meaning of life?" and more quantifiably, "What is the meaning of MY life?" also there's "Is there any Meaning to Life at all? I'd say, pretty much everyone has thought at least one if not all of these questions at one time, or close variations of them.

Every religion and philosphy is a method of trying to find an answer to this question. Science is more about "How things Work" as opposed to the actual meaning behind them.

faith is an exceedingly problem. particularly some communities with distinctive concepts and imaginations needs to triumph over the flexibility of option communities and attempting to instruct that "we are the wonderful". If we evaluate the excellent humanity - it should be a creation via a great concepts. the limits of this argument is to instruct specific factors actual. employing fact the life starts off off from invisibility and finally leads to invisibility. Take a white paper and color its center one/0.33 section in purple. Draw a line crossing all 3 sections utilising a pen that has ink of white color. Now the line by employing way of purple section is obviously seen and white section no longer. precise here the seen section is the life we live at recent. in any distinctive case it is going to become that one and all human beings stay in this worldwide and it has no aim previous. Will this variety of staggering creation come into being and not utilising a purpose. Is it no longer foolishness to think of of that way? without information what's waiting us on the top, we are waiting to a minimum of guard others as our equivalent beings and honour them the way we % to be. That itself will make endless modifications to this worldwide.

That's a pretty good question. I don't really know one, I would assume that people would think sometimes that this world sucks, I mean people think that at least every once in a while. So that could be considered as one thought that everyone shares right?

Try this little social (or anti-social) experiment. To find out if everybody thinks the same thing or has the same opinion, just fart aloud in a crowded elevator and begin recording your findings.
