iPods are by far the best choice. They have the best file system, the easiest to use, and the click wheel is SO nice... if you get a cheaper alternative, you'll be sorry. I have heard good things about the creative zen, but I don't have experience with it. The iPod is great because it has a well lit screen, and the "click wheel" they rave about is a circle that you actually run your finger around in circles to find your songs. It's a LOT better than pushing the FF button 30 times in a row to find a song. There is not much mystery to them; they are pretty much "what you see is what you get". VERY easy to use. They're very self sufficient, when you plug it into your computer, it automatically opens the program that it works with, iTunes, and updates everything for you, (which is lightening fast) and it tells you when it's done, and that you can unplug it. The iPod battery life is excellent, and the accessories for them are EVERYWHERE. Another good point is that almost all the accessories for the different models are interchangable, so if you get one and accidentally run it over, all of your accessories will work for your next one, even if you choose a different model.
My advice is to download iTunes. It's free, from www.apple.com , and browse around. If you choose an iPod, this is the software that will come with it anyway, so you can familiarize yourself with it now.
Good luck!

iPods are nice MP3 players, they're easy to use. Problem is they're expensive. If you shop around you can find other brands that do the same thing or more than the iPod, but will cost a lot less. As far as music goes, I say buy the CD and "rip" it to your computer. Then you can create any playlists you want on your MP3 player. And if something happens to your computer, you still have the orginal CD's to re-make your MP3 library with. Whereas if you buy them online & have no back-up, then your SOL. Would have to "re-buy" the songs you want.

I don't know if ur considering an Ipod, but if ur not then I would suggest u go with the Samsung YP-T7 series of mp3 players. Amazing mp3 player!!!Plays music better than most others and also functions as voice recorder, has FM radio, line in recording, image viewer, text viewer, FM recording. It is a feature packed mp3 player. I don't think u could ask for any other features from such a small portable unit. I highly recommend it.

pod, ipod, ipod. The ipod is the best choice. They may be expensive, but they pay off. The shuffle is small and the least expensive, plus you can purchase armbands that secure it around your arm. The nano has the lanyard headphones option- the nano plugs into a lanyard which wrapps around your neck and connects to headphones. If you want a video, you should get one, because theyre awesome. So think about what kind of music (and/or video) experience you want, and choose your ipod accordingly. Ipods will always surpass their mp3 apponents!

Here is a link to learn more about the lanyard headphones for the nano-

There are armbands available for nano as well.

One last link: a very protective case for the video-http://store.apple.com/1-800-my-apple/we...

and in general, any ipod information can (obviously) be found off of www.apple.com

hope i helped! good luck in choosing your music player!

An ipod 30g would be a good choice. The only problem is that it costs about $300. Another choice would be a creative zen. You can find each of these at Walmart.

To me iPods are the best and original. 2 years ago I had a Rio brand MP3 player and I didn't particularly like it. iPods are the bomb because you know immediately which program to use (iTunes) and you can buy accessories to dress it up and there are color screens.
They're really great. I've had my nano for about 4 months now and I love it.

iPod Nano is the best bang for the buck.
Or Creative nano and Yahoo! Unlimited subscription, if you don't like buying music piece per piece.

ipod. there's doubt about this? If you're looking for "small" go with the nano or ipod shuffle (which you can get at outpost.com for 49.99).
