Have to agree with your hubby on this one. Since the cows are not pinned up (like they should be), I would report it to my insurance agent and then it would come out of her home owners insurance. Then maybe next time she will put the cows away. If she is a good friend she should have offered that in the first place. However, since your asking the question as you said she did not. On that note might even rethink the friendship a wee bit.

I think she should of been courteous and offered to pay something for the damage..
Why was the cow anywhere near where people park?
I would suggest she turn it into her home owners insurance. All legitamate farms have coverage for damage caused by livestock..

She should pay for part of it or all of it. Insurance will only pay after the deductible is met. Strange, though. I've never heard of a cow kicking a car.

It depends on how much you value the friendship. On the one hand, you knew that she had cows and, yet, you parked your car on her property. With that line of logic, you are mostly responsible. On the other hand, you could argue that the burden of protecting your property lies with her and that her homeowners insurance should cover the damages.
If she has not offered to compensate you, she is not planning on it. If you pursue her for a portion of the damages, you may very likely risk the friendship.

Actually, weather or not she offers to pay this would be covered under her homeowners insurance. You could technically sue her insurance company for reimbursement. Of course, you don't want to ruin a friendship. I'd approach her with the issue and ask her to pay for the damages... or talk to her about reporting it to her insurance. If she refuses to pay then she isn't much of a friend and you should go after the insurance.

She should pay. Her cow caused damage to your car while on her property. How rude of her not to offer at least to pay half.

I think you and her should split the cost. Most insurance has a deductible of $500, so insurance would likely not cover it. It's unfortunate the it happened, but it wasn't her fault that it happened. You don't want to damage your friendship, but if she is a true friend, just bring it up to her. If she gets upset, then she isn't much of a friend anyway.

Legally? She should. It's your car, it's her cow. It's like, if her dog peed on your best skirt or bit you. Your property was damaged by her property, she should pay half if not all damage repair costs. Best of luck.

I think the insurance company should pay for it. It's considered a comprehensive loss and you shouldn't receive higher premiums because of it. Besides, this way you won't loss a friend or feel upset that they haven't offerred to pay for it.
