its because they have solid fundamentals, great basketball i.q.. in short they have too much potential in them...

Just ask Detroit. Who knows? It's all about finding the next Dirk and not the next Darko.

Also, there was no clear cut #1 pick this year as in year's past, so they decided that if they were going to take a gamble, let's take a gamble on a 7 footer that can play inside and out. Unfortunately, he isn't that good defensively and a poor rebounder for a guy that is 7' tall.

its all about the ratings and getting more international audience especially the football crazy european market.. The NBA wants a big chunk of that market..

Thats also the reason why they intentionally lose to the olympics to get the attention and interest of Europeans in basketball.
