You can tell the difference through the eyes, Black Caribbeans have slanted eyes like Asians and Black Americans have circular eyes kind of like Europeans.

It depends, I can usually tell if that person's Dominican (my culture) on sight or my mother points it out for me. Black Caribbeans can sometimes tell and sometimes not.
Kyle_R, that's not always true. My mother is Dominican and she has slanted eyes but, most of the women on my mother's side (all Dominican) have round eyes. It's the same with Black Americans; I've met Black American girls with slanted eyes and Black Caribbean girls with round eyes. I have round eyes and I'm mixed with both. You can't always go by that.

You cannot -- so why try? We are the same people -- African with dashes of European (white) and Native American thrown in.
There is no reason to try to distinguish us other than for conversational reasons, e.g., "Oh, you're from New Hampshire! I have relatives there." You may just be saying, "Oh, I have been to Jamaica!" Unfortunately, the Jamaican person may well be thinking, "Hey, that means one of my relatives may have had to wait on you at some resort." Things may not go well after that....
Aside from that digression, keep in mind we are the same ethnically or "racially" so why try to tell us apart?

How can you tell a White American from a White Canadian without asking them or hearing them speak?
Sometimes you can tell a Trinidadian so-called 'dougla' or Mixed Hindu/Black, but there aren't that many of them.

If he has a big cubic zirconia studded head of Jesus around his neck and drives a 1988 Toyota Corolla all pimped out, he is probably Puerto Rican.

How can you tell an Irishman from a Scotsman or an Iranian from a Mexican, or an Italian from a Greek. I guess my question is why is it important to you?
