My question is, what do you think of this and if he were to go to prison, does anyone know what it would be like for him there? Remember, she wasn't a child. She was a young teenager and sexually active before him.

Hmm 17 and 14, only 3 yrs difference. He got a bum rap. If your a kid at 14 your still a kid at 17 theres not much difference there. Why should it matter at that age when if she was just 2 yrs older she can have sex with someone in their 20's or older. Major dbl standard there.

I have heard of this happening before, but actually if you are considered a minor in your state (some states a minor is under 18 and others it is under 19) he cant go to prison, only juvenille detention. Not only that, but once he becomes a legal adult all prior convictions are swiped off of his record. 14 years old is very young for a 17 year old to sleep with, but I remember when I was 14 and I would have known exactly what I was doing. I think it is silly that the law doesnt hold people responsible for themselves until they are 18. Im 20 now, and I can assure you, I have been able to tell right from wrong much longer than just the past 2 years. The reason he is getting in trouble for it though, isnt because he had sex with someone and hes an adult and they are a minor, because he isnt an adult legally either. It is because by law anyone who has sex with a 14 year old (other than another 14 year old) is breaking the law.

Odds are if he was convicted with a charge of child molestation he will be treated more harshley by other prisoners unless he can convince them that it wasnt a small child. 14 is a little young for sexual contact, but kids that age are having sex all the time, and you cant always blaim someone else. People seem to assume since she is 14 and he is 17 he must have pushed her into it or something like that, but really there are too many 14 year old sluts these days that know if they can just get an older guy in bed they can keep them forever with the "if you leave me i'll get you arrested threat" for it to be a valid charge anymore..

She was an experienced victim and probably more than he, at 17, could handle. I think some kids make dumb mistakes. Others do stuff like this all the time and only talk about the time that they got caught, as though it wasn't such a big deal. Where do you think your brother's head is at?

As a father of two lovely daughters, I wouldn't want your brother to be around them until I knew where his heart and head were at. If he was 30 and diddling a 14 yr old, he should be in jail. 17 - a closer call. Two minors going at it.

Take your age (17) devide it by 2 and add 7 round up if nessesary and.... the youngest he should have been dating was a 16 year old. Plus relationships are so much more fun when people are both at the same maturity level. I hope he doesn't go to jail, all people deserve a second chance to make the right decision.

Depends on what country you are in and what the legal age of consent is there. See here for more info...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_consent

To me it seems a bit harsh to put a 17 year old in prison for sleeping with a 14 year old he was dating but the harsh fact is that your brother broke the law by sleeping with her.

It will probably be very hard for your brother in prison, especially as a sex offender. Sorry I can't give you better news. :(

most states the legal age is 18. if he was 17 they would both be underage. they can go to prison as sex offenders for 9 years. most of those are adults alot older. if your charged with it, your labeled that for life. offenders are not as bad off as child predators. many prisons will try to kill them. anything but a sex offense is considered prespectible in prison. i knew a few guys who went out with girls that were 17 and lied about their age and even had false id's. but still went to prison for it. its possible that since he was underage and if he has a clean record, he could get probation and community service. check your state laws on legal age as most every state is 18. only one state with parents permission can marry at 13.

I think it's wrong that he is considered a sex offender and may go to jail. I mean, granted... she was only 14... but if she was previously sexually active then she obviously felt she was able to make that choice. I don't know the entire story but assuming everything was consentual... he shouldn't go to jail. Hell, in some states it's legal to get married without parental consent at the age of 14. I hope he gets off... um... wait... bad choice of words... but you get the drift.

That is a tough one because he will always have that label. granted, he himself was underage however at 17 he had to know that being with a 14 year old girl was inappropriate. No matter how she wanted it.

He will have a very hard time living this down and it will probably follow him forever. Hopefully he won't go to jail. I do hope he has learned his lesson. Good luck to him.

She was a child. Just because he was second or third in line makes him no less guilty. If we were talking about bank robbery and a bank had been robbed several times is only the first bank robber guilty of bank robbery?

If he goes to prison he will probably be on the receiving end this time. Is he pretty?
