I am taking something called "metformin" and "diane". These are the only meds my obgyn has prescribed for me, and I am very curious to know what others may be doing/taking?

I have done research, I am just curious about other people's methods of dealing.... as well, I do suffer from a lot of the other effects of having pcos.... hair in all the wrong places, and no matter what I do, I cannot shed the weight in my abdomen area..... my paps are always normal, so that's good....

There are different types of polycystic ovarian syndrome. The more prevalent one is responsive to metformin (which decreases your insulin resistance, thus regulating your cycle). I was on BCP for over 10 years, got pregnant within 2 weeks of stopping it. Now I'm on metformin and it's working great! No more need for hormones.

I have PCOS also, and as you probably know the cause of this is elevated testosterone. Some forms of treatment are: The birth control pill: this helps your hormone levels as well as improving your skin and keeping your cycle regular. Also, if you have bad skin, spironolactone is amazing at helping it out. It blocks testosterone on a minor level, mainly targeting your skin. Also, have your insulin levels checked. Mine are high so they put me on glucophage, it helps regulate your insulin levels. Diabetes is a high risk of having PCOS. LET ME ALSO MENTION you should do your research. PCOS does NOT mean you have cysts on your ovaries. All it means is that your body produces too much testosterone: which COULD cause: cysts on overies, irregular periods, weight gain, acne, excessive hair growth, skin tags, sleep apnea, diabetes, and infertility. Have a checkup by: your regular doctor, your ob/gyn AND an endocrinologist. You need to do your research cause alot of the people answering your question DONT know what they're talking about.

I have tried several things for it. Nothing helped me(not to say they wont help you). After dealing with it for 5 years(that i have known i've had it) and trying to get pregnant, I am tired of hurting. I am checking into having my ovaries removed. I am only 28 but I cant go through this another 20 years. I hurt so bad right now I just want to rip my ovaries out......of course i have other problems to which it aggrivates.......anyway. If you want to eventually get pregnant I do not recommend b/c. I've taken numerous times. It doesn't even control my period anymore.

poly cysits grown on the overys and they are trying you on the meds to see if it will help and if not then they will have to go and look inside and if bad take and clean off what they can so do the meds and if they dont work then you will need sugery
