Take them to Kitsilano -- lots of beach, lots of music, lots of water sports. For thrill rides, there is the PNE, in east Vancouver, for a real thrill, there is Lynn Canyon and the swinging bridge in North Vancouver, which has a system of walkways high up in the air that takes you for a birds eye view of the park. Right now the Cirque du Soleil is playing in Vancouver, and it's not far from Science World, which is another kid favorite. For more information on things to do in Vancouver, go to HelloBC.com and find out all you want to know about this amazing city.
Enjoy your visit!

Go up to Okanagan Lake on the BC Day long weekend in August. There you have the beach and the water and plenty of warm weather to enjoy it, there are often festivals put on by communities in the area that will feature concerts and rides.

Cruise ships.
Cruise ships are the best vacation ever. Not only will your kids love it and make alot of friends (most cruises have activities for teenagers every night, such as dances), you will barley see your kids for most of the cruise unless you wanna see them. Perfect time to relax.
And if you take a cruise to an island, you get a beach =D but the last cruise i went on, i didnt wanna leave the ship because it was too fun on it...

If they like arcade style games take them to Castle fun Park in Abbotsford. It has go karts, mini golf, batting cages, bumper cars and loads of arcade games. It even has a bowling alley!

If you don't want to go far, then go to Tafino on Vancouver island. I remember going there when I was 13 and LOVING it. Lots of surfing and whale watching and stuff.
