I heard this on the radio on my way home from work: Sources close to the Bush family believe that, in order to spare Kenneth Lay his much deserved prison sentence, the father and son George Bushes hatched this scheme to make it seem like their friend had died, when in fact he was escorted by jet out of the country and into the witness protection program! It seems so far-fetched!! But considering the arrogance and stupidity of all involved, I'm CERTAINLY not ruling it out!! Matter of fact, the more I think about it, the more I believe it may be true!!! What do you all think??!

My first thoughts were that he is living a life of luxury on some remote uncharted island. It was just so convenient that he died on the 4th of July. A good day full of distractions to pull something off like that.

Why? The President could have signed a clemency order and he could have not even gone to prison. The president of the United States has that authority.

"In the United States, the pardon power is granted to the President by the United States Constitution, Art. II, Sec. 2, which states that the President:

shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment. "

So why the elaborate schema? It would be unnecessary. Nah, someone is smoking too much weed.

It wouldn't be the first completely unscrupulous thing the Bush's have done. Lay and Bush were awful close. I wonder how many good clear pictures we will see of Ken Lay laying in a casket.

Bush is trying very hard to clean his record up, not further besmirch it by granting such a scoundrel as Ken Lay the founder of Enron (that's who he is) a pardon. Daaa...... .

To all the people who said Bush could have pardoned him...

Do you REALLY think he would have done that, knowing his approval rating would drop? Hm, no.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. I thought his death was very timely.

He died, he is not visiting Elvis somewhere.

Bush could have just gave him a pardon after he was sentenced
