Mine is almost always right about guys.
Don't underestimate your intuition,
or let your friends talk you out of listening to it.
You will regret it, 99 times outta 100.
At least, that's been my experience.

Whether it's called woman's intuition, or gut feelings, street smarts or whatever, it's a valid feeling and you should pay attention. Our subconscious will pick up a lot of information that your conscious mind does not notice, add that to your past experiences that you may not even be thinking of, and it adds up to those feelings of "something's not quite right here." I always pay attention to the little red flags that go up in certain situations, and I have never been wrong.
As far as making a decision about something, if you've considered the pros and cons to both sides and they are equal and you still can't make up your mind, trust your instincts for the same reasons--there's info you are not conscious of that is pushing you in a certain direction.

I agree with Holly. My gut will tell me when things are right or wrong. I have even had times of being many miles away from someone and have the feeling that something is wrong with them, they are in trouble, etc, and it is usually right.

it has been my experience in life that if you can't trust yourself, who can you trust? any time i have ignored that little feeling in my stomach, i have regretted it later. it is now my personal policy to "go with my gut". had i always done this, i could have saved myself a lot of trouble and grief.
