Sounds like you are looking for an Expediting company. Many of these companies are leasing on few vans and are looking more for Sprinters. Some still have need for vans.

Try these:

Express 1
Buchanan, MI.
800-800-5161

Panther 2
Medina, OH.
800-830-7592

You may also want to do a search on these;
Fed Ex Custom Critical, Con-Air, or Landstar.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Start Your Own Freight Brokerage Business by Entrepreneur Press
* Handbook of Logistics and Distribution Management by Alan Rushton
* How to Start a Freight Brokerage Business by Entrepreneur Press
* A Practical Guide to Transportation and Logistics by Michael B. Stroh

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Call the U.S.Department of Transportation (USDOT),look in the white pages directory for the number or dial 411 and ask for the number.Tell them what type of van you have, how many passengers the van can hold.Ask them what do you need to get started.(Licenses, permits etc...) and they should be able to tell you everything you need to know. Also check with your city and state transportation authorities. For example if you live in the state of Oregon the transportation authority would be (ODOT) Oregon Department of Transportation. If you're not sure of your states transportation authority, just ask the U.S.Department of Transportation.Good Luck.
