Please pay very close attention. There are numerous studies that are indicating that a person is born gay, and it is not a choice. Our technology hasn't come far enough to directly pinpoint 'the gay gene' and we probably won't have conclusive evidence, either way in this life time. Homosexuality is a common occurrence in nature as literally hundreds of studies show, and they occur most frequently in species that have a very secure population, and are in no danger of becoming extinct.Homosexuality was also removed from the DSM back in the 70's.It is not a mental illness.I have several gay friends and ALL of them grew up in relatively well adjusted households,no significant abuse, sexual or otherwise , and they all say that they knew they were gay at a very young age, ranging form age 5 to 12.

I do believe that some people are born with some sort of genetic problem that makes them desire the same sex. How else could we explain that some gay men are naturally SO feminine, and other gay men aren't? And some gay women are born very manly, and some aren't? I do believe, as did the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) at one point, that it is a mental issue. Just like Down's Syndrome is mental retardation with some physical markers, homosexuality in some forms is a mental illness with physical markers (behavior and mannerisms like those of the opposite sex.) Those gays who do not look and act gay are not born that way in my opinion.
I do believe that with help (and lots of prayer and effort) gays can be changed. I know a couple of people who were gay (obviously gay) and who came to God and are no longer gay. I've also read accounts of others who experienced the same thing.
Bring on the flames!!! :)

I am sure there are a few people who chose to be gay for some reason of their own. But for the most part most people are born gay.
I have childhood friends who are gay. They always knew and just came that way. And if you think about it, it makes sense. After all who would purposely choose to join a minority who is discriminated against and sometimes attacked!

I dont think people are born"gay" i think that some people have more feminine or masculine qualities I have a really good friend who i met when i was about 8 and he was 7 we pretty much grew up together and as long as i knew him he was feminine he liked to wear makeup and play dress up and he got into really girlie shows like Buffy the vampire slayer or charmed he like musicals but he wasn't gay he didn't like men he had crushes on girls but all thru school people called him gay he never fit in and was pretty sad we went to different schools but i saw him every weekend i felt bad for him because even tho he wasn't gay that's what society labeled him as and now guess what he's gay. i think that he got so sick of trying to fit in and trying to be more cool or one of the guys that he gave up and decided that being gay is easier i feel bad for most of the gay community

Yes, they have been studying this for a long time and studies show that brain chemistry and glandular hormones play a huge roll in ones sexual preferance. Drs are beginning to believe (with physical evidence) that people are born gay. One of the most accurate testing is a brain scan.

Nope. Life is a series of choices. Gay people who say "why would I choose this? Who would choose this? I have no choice," et cetera et cetera are being deceived. Don't you know that anything is possible if you only believe? They just don't believe that they can, or lack the desire to change. Our character and personality traits are like a pack of dogs locked up in a fenced in yard. Whichever one you choose to feed is the one that will grow strong and dominant. The one that starves will shrivel and die. Gay people have fed their thoughts of the same sex over the years and thus, become gay. Also, there is no such thing as a curse. Things have only as much power over you as you give them.

In this day and age I think that answer comes only in the form of opinion. Scientist have studied and are studing the x and y chromosomes in the brain and have found that there is a difference in gay people verus straight. I would look up the scientific evidence online. Try the Discovery Health Channel.

No, people are born with Human Instincts, which is to be atracted to the oppise sex. Homosexual is a Nurture over a Nature issue. I dont say this through ignorance, I know many Gays, or mostly Lesbians, and I can not name one of the lesbians who didnt have some sort of negative male model in their life weather is be abusive or dead beat dad, husban, relative, or bf. Its a deap seeded issue, not a healthy life choice.

I think it's a combination of heredity and environment, but I think people must be born with leanings towards their own sex or the opposite, and some people like both, of course. I don't think anyone consciously would choose to be gay in our society. I don't think they can help how they feel and I believe in tolerance for all. People usually feel threatened by things they don't understand. In the future, when we understand sexual preferences better, maybe people will be kinder.

If they are born gay , then how do you explain all the EX-GAYS?

They make a choice and then use the born gay propaganda to avoid any responsibility for the consequences.
