Jimmy Piersall is very much alive. See the link to begin (there is also a fan site). Apparently he lives in Chicago.

Red Sox fans may remember him. (I also recall when he was with the Mets briefly in 1963. When he hit his 100th career home run, he circled the bases while running backward.)

For a rather dramatic recreation of his mental problems, see the movie "Fear Strikes Out," which is based on his autobiography.

Jimmy does a radio sports show in Chicago and in the winter, resides in Arizona. He played from 1950-1967 and was a fine ballplayer who had bipolar disorder.

He wrote a book on his career & baseball; he goes back a long way. He was with the original Mets in 1962. Best know for falling asleep in center (?) or right(?) field.

He must be dead by now.
