First thing, one day we WILL know how much He REALLY loves us... But for now, don't you think that by giving up His position in Heaven with God to come down to this awful place- knowing from the beginning that HE was the one who was going to save the people His Father created...
He loved us so much, he came to this world knowing full well that He was going to demonstrate the LOVE of God to man, and they would kill him for it.
If that isnt love, then I dont know what love is. Look around you, people are getting worse and worse, life has little value to many people, they dare God to punish them... and when He forgives them, they assume He isnt paying attention and continue to sin. Sin has pleasure in it for a season; but God says it ends in death.
When people are born, they are born with a place inside that only the presence of God can fill, but because no one told them about God in a way that they could understand, they grew cold and selfish... the god of this world entered into their minds and used their own self against them; and blinded them to the truth... the bible says in the end times that God will send a strong delusion to mankind and they will all believe a lie. The Da Vinci code is a very strong delusion.
The book and movie is pure fiction and outright lies, but many people who refuse to love Jesus are going to be strongly deceived by this and are going to find themselves facing a God who doesnt know them... and they will find a huge angel suddenly behind them who will snatch them up by whatever bodypart is handy and fling them into Hell.
We have been born into a fight to the death between a Good loving God and a devil who wants to be God. The thing is, God created Satan, satan did not create God... but Satan THINKS to this minute that he can hurt God by causing the destruction of as many of the people God loves.
He is right. BUT--- God being the one who created the devil as a good thing who chose to turn bad, can take satan out any time He wants; the only reason He hasn't ended this again for the LAST time is He is waitng for as many of the people who would make Jesus their choice, not themself, not money, but Jesus the one who they want to be with forever..
The bottom line is there is a war going on and we are caught right in the middle. God says, Come and I will take care of you forever and ever;... satan says, nothing but lies. God calls him a liar and murderer from the start... He uses our weaknesses against us, and if we are stupid enough to listen to him we will find ourselves in Hell with him forever and ever... that is a VERY long time!
If what God did for us doesnt show love, then I guess I too am blind, because I think He truly loves all of us, even the ones who hate Him... they are literally blinded by evil even if they cant see it... ESPECIALLY because they cant or wont see it. I really hope that YOU can see it now.

Why do you love a pet that aimlessly follows you around?
I for one don't need Jesus' love. I'd have to believe in him first.
The only Jesus I know works with plants and trees.

For a single reason: most of us can't know how it is to die for as many people as Christ did.
According to the legend (which you may or not believe, depending on your religion), Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for the sins of mankind. As you may think, not only dying for someone else BUT also doing it for all mankind it probably not very easy...

WE are limited by our humanity to realize the scope of what he did for us. I think we will see it very clearly when we stand in front of God's throne on judgment day. PTL.

Because we belong to Him. Even with our short comings He still loves us (ie; "forgive them father for they know not what they do").
