The reason for the black out is the same as a pilot experiences when flying at high G force level. The heart does not have enough power to push the blood to the brain. Since the fetus is getting its blood pumped by the mother's heart, it will not experience a blackout from being upside down.

practically, the head is the heaviest part of the fetus, so it goes up side down,
and for black out, it is because of the volume, when you grow up, the more blood & fluid that tracted by gravity , and yes, the fluid in the womb increase the pressure evenly inside it

The baby is floating in fluid. Besides, once it starts getting crowded in there, the baby usually is heads up until close to delivery. Your body gives it a signal to turn when it's time to get ready for delivery.
And I hate to break it to you folks who think there is no gravity... it's a womb, not outer space. There is gravity and what's more, all that water carries vibrations like crazy.

tina...a fetus is NOT upside down for 6 months...go to your public library and look for books showing pictures of a pregnant woman and you will see the fetus is not upside down.. or go to your dr and ask your dr your question...even tho i am male i have seen enough pictures in medical books to know that a fetus is NOT upside down for 6 months in a mother's womb...

Because he is suspended in fluid. It is similar to being "upside down" in space. There really is no up or down without gravity.
