What is so attractive about sleaze, smut, and vulgarity? It's everywhere we turn and seems to becoming more and more mainstream, especially on the web. Can society turn away from it all on our own, or is society happy with "freedom of expression/anything goes" mentality? Have we lost ALL respect and responsibility for caring about how others think and feel; we only care about ourselves right NOW, this very instant?

Appearances can be deceiving. The things that are happening now have always been there. It was simply hidden. Insane people went to the asylum or in the basement, pregnant teens went to visit some relative in another town until after the birth then returned claiming a new baby sister or brother or a husband that died in the war.Kids ran away from home, got raped,or molested and it was hushed up to avoid the family shame. The men would sneak off to clubs, whore houses, mistresses and other places by night while singing hymens on Sunday. We live in the information age now and there are very few real secrets left. I play a lot!! Peace.

THANK YOU!!!! OMG, finally someone who can see the friggin light... that is always my arguement, although....they are being normal humans, their making mistakes, and this is what humans are made for, from what I believe. Society should be happy with its freedom, but they should atleast learn how to respect themselves and their bodies, ehh? I used to use this old blog site (Tagged) and all I ever saw is girls with pictures of their butts, and guys with pictures of *ahhm* and I'm thinking "This is the internet, people are stupid for hooking up on the world wide web"

Hmm, Nice thinking!~,

that is the normal human condition! it is amazing how so many think "good" is the "norm".... it's not... it is what we strive to find and strive to be..... in the world respect is discarded like the trash on the roadside.... the world is self-centered, pushing aside anyone or thing that gets in the way..... the only way is to be self-less...to make a difference. i personally found the only way to do that is by making a decision each day who i am going to serve.....myself or others.......... its a lot nicer when i serve others...... kat

Because being normal sucks. What you described isn't the opposite of normal so I'm not sure even you even know what normal is. Is normal being just like you?
And I believe honesty is the best policy so if you can't take it, that's not other peoples fault.

Ok, grandma/pa. Let's go back to the days of decency when there were world wars, Nazis, segregation, and other problems. Get with the times.

I think people can't make the difference between freedom of speech and just plain stupidity.

You're preaching to the choir. People are just getting dumber as the years go by, which makes me feel sorry for my children's generation.
