I had to do this for a chemistry experiment, the project didn't require i know what the compound was created, just it's properties but what did i make?

You mixed an alkane and a primary alcohol. I don't think you'd get any reaction, just a mixture. The Brazilians do something similar when they add ethanol to petrol to make it go further.

I agree with the previous poster, they don't react by themselves, but the mixture might have different properties from those of the individual compounds. 1-tetradecanol is slightly smaller and lighter than the tetracosane, and thus (huge generalization here) would probably be much like ethanol in gasoline (octane). As a lighter and generally more volatile substance than the tetracosane, the alcohol would make it easier to burn the tetracosane by igniting first, giving off more heat than that used to ignite it, plus effectively aerosolizing the tetracosane and remaining tetradecanol.
