It does not do this every time but frequent enough to be very aggrivating. I put it in gear it still runs good most of the time but when i start to accelerate it dies. Then is hard starting and you have to choke it to get it to start even with the engine warm. I have done all the basics i can think of. Rebuilt both carbs, new plugs,fuel filter, recently had to put an ignition module on it.

If anyone can help I would much appreciate it. Thanks ahead.

Sounds like you may have changed your throttle pick up/timing pivot point. This happens all the time when amatuers try messing around with the carb linkage.
There are 3 very precise settings at this pivot point. 1- timing 2 - throttle advance and 3 - fuel setting pickup

Loud but not humming. Don't understand. Loud the same loudness? just not fast? sounds almost like cavitation or ventilation. Have you made any changes in the hull? Done any recent maintenance to the motor? Check the prop and lower unit for any kind of damage or irregularity. check the fuel tank for debris. and water. Make sure the tank vent is clear. And a compression test. What other symptoms? starts ok? runs good when it accelerates?

I had a very similar problem with a 1983 115hp Mercury outboard. It turned out to the the fuel pump on mine. It was very easy to rebuild and solved the problem for me.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like everything is clogged up.

You need to clean everything, You can buy a Enzyme chemical from Boat US. You put this in the tank and it breaks up any old oil or sludge in the tank, lines, reeds, heads. Change the spark plugs also, and check the gap. It's a fuel air mixture problem. To rich on the oil gas mix, causes it to die. lean will make it run faster.

I had the same problem and had to replace my fuel lines, they were old and clogged up. Once I had killed my motor I had to gun it or it would die if I slowly accelerated. More than likely its a Gas issue if it is dieing only while accelerating;

Check fuel lines and connections. A pinhole in the line and it will starve for fuel. Old lines can also collapse.
Make sure exhaust is clear. A blockage will reduce vacuum

Check your fuel line and primer bulb, the check valve hangs up and blocks fuel, if its old just replace it. Make sure your gas tank vent is open and there is no junk/rust in the tank.

try the float levels. sounds like they are too low. also replace the fuel hose as it may be sucking shut and starving the carb(s). if were a betting man i'd lay money on the low float level
