I'm thinking about getting a DS Lite but is it really worth buying?

Only if you still don't have a DS. The illumination is much better that the older version. The difference in size is little, but really is more stylish. My children have the older one and I have a DS lite for me. I like to play with them. We like the connectivity we share and we can play in the doctors office, or waiting for our dinner to come in a restaurant.

If you don't have a regular DS, then don't buy it. But if your DS breaks, buy a Lite. If your DS is in good shape I would save the money for a Wii or new games.

Well depends.
If you dont have a Ds and you are planning then yes because its up to date and fashion.
A second reason is a longer stylus makes it much easy on the touch screen.
The only problem is if you have GBA games they stick out about 1/2 a inch.
Sorry but to me they really are worth it.
Hope it helps you.
