If you only kinda like them and like someone else better, you need to be honest with everyone. If you don't, it will only hurt more later. Why be with someone who isn't right just because of habit? You aren't married yet are you?
1. Tell the guy you are dating that you care, but not as much as a girlfriend should. This will hurt, but not as much as finding out from somebody else.
2. After you break up with current, let your friend know you are interested and ask him out for lunch or something.
Don't tell 1 you are dumping him for 2 - be kind as possible. You would want a guy to treat you with respect too.

take it from someone who knows. i dont know how old you are. but i went out with a guy who was my very first bf. and i didnt really like him. he had a bad past and told me that he would cut when girls broke up with him which scared me. i didnt like him at all and he was a total freak. i really liked one of my good friends. lets just say my relationship with this guy should have ended in a max of 2 days. it dragged on for 3 months and it killed me. not to mention it hurt more when i broke up with him cause i gave him time to get even more attached to me. trust me. set him down and tell him your feelings have changed and that you would really just prefere to be friends and do it fast. if you dont it will be harder on both of you. follow your heart and go for the one you love. dont try to go with both because i was stupid and tried that and i certainly dont reccomend it. just be honest with yourself and the two boys. it will hurt at first but you will know you made the right choice in the end. good luck hun!

Its not fair to be with someone if you dont feel the same as the other person.
I would listen to me, and break it off with this other person.
If you love someone else it will show in your relationship.
I tried to stay in a relationship where i didnt love my ex, and i ended hurting him...
He knew for months that i didn't feel the same and he tried everything in his power to make it right.
And thats what he got in return...
Its definitly not fair and i would never wish that feeling upon anyone! Do the right thing!
Good luck

You really shouldn't drag the person along. I JUST had to break up with my boyfriend because I just didn't like him anymore, and although it hurt him, he's over it and I'm sure he's happier than if I was faking the relationship.

Follow your heart, it makes more logical sense than your head most times. I wish it were easy, but will not be even later in life.

tell your best friend how you feel, and if you all want to be together, break up with him (make sure you and your best friend feel the same way about each other before you break up with your bf, this way you will still have a bf)
