absolutely not...if a person is so inclined they could hear or listen to anything that might set them off. heavy metal gets the blame most times from people who don't actually listen to it or appreciate it for what it is.

No. i believe no music right away provokes suicide, yet listeners of any music pay interest to the lyrics and picture of them how they need to. The which technique of a line will be diverse from one individual to a unique. even although metallic talks about lack of existence and demons many times, the artists arn't searching to kill those with words. an excellent style of the time they're used as metaphors for biggers issues, like self conflict or love.

i don't listen to heavy metal. but i know people that do and i don't think they are suicidal. i don't think music could make you do such a stupid thing. i agree with DJ Kaddafi people just blame things like suicide on music. which is wrong. also if the person listening to the music was smart enough they should know not to listen to the song about commiting suicide. also some people that kill themselves didn't even listen to metal. so that right there can proove it. but i don't listen to metal. i listen to like "emo" or rock. and my mom says i seem sad alot of the time. but i don't feel sad alot of the time. she doesn't like my music. I think if the person was stupid enough to listen to apart of the song that says go kill urself then what were they thinking? By saying metal music provokes suicide thats like saying the artists that made the music want people to commit suicide. My answer is no. and i hope i helped some.

No. I am old enough to remember when Tipper Gore was raising the roof on that issue. It was an easy scapegoat for confused and hurting parents to focus on after losing their children. Heavy metal is no more shocking or inflammatory for it's time (or even now in the age of alternative and earlier grunge) than any other popularity gaining form of self expression.

If heavy metal music provokes suicide then rap music provokes gang violence and music from the 60s and 70s provoked drug use and pop music provokes teens to have sex at an early age... do you get the point? Music has always been blamed for the downfall of our society and instead of taking the blame for our own actions we point our fingers at talented artists who express their selves through the art of making music.

Yes it does, because years ago I use to love heavy metal music. Now I listen more to Christian music, and then last week I found one of my heavy metal Cd's that I haven't listen to for years, and in my mind I can see visual pictures of violent acts, and disturbing things. I think it can make you depress.

Actually.I've found that songs talking about suicide provokes people in committing it. Like with blink182's Adam's song.Alot of people have committed suicide to it. So it's not just heavy metal that provokes suicide in people.

I don't think so!
I feel that music is a state of art and sometimes it gets abused by people who think about it way to much!
Sucide is a state of mind...it's an diease...
