A good supervisor encourages their subordinates to do the best job they can, be reliable and independent. A good supervisor makes the employees feel like a valued member of a team. A good supervisor, like the employee, needs to be able to say "I don't know" or "I made a mistake." A good supervisor is willing to be a working member of the team during a crisis, rather than being a "traffic cop" on the side. A good supervisor is a good listener who is willing to heard suggestions for change and evaluate the suggestions with an open mind.
There are good and there are bad supervisors. As an employee you cannot "get rid of your supervisor." Your choices are to open lines of communication to discuss problems, find another job, or bite your tongue and do your job in silence.

A good supervisor is a good teacher, understanding with employees, firm when needed to be. But when the get all pissy and pick on you, you need to let them know hey whats up I feel like I am being picked on. Why? And talk it out if you don't tension will just build up and there will be an ugly confrontation.
