Or is a positive a positive. Can your body give a false positive? I went to the store and bought a ept I plan on taking it in the morning, if its positive do take that as a REAL positive. Advise is needed.....

A body can give a false positive from what I understand. Now a "faint" positive...this is something new. If the pregnancy test was like the ones you get at the store, wait a day or so and take the one you just bought. The longer you wait, the more of the hormone will have built up that indicates you're pregnant. If you're in doubt after the store bought test, then by all means, get a 2nd opinion. This is your life and body so take whatever actions you need to to get the answers [and results] you're looking for. Make sure you've counted back to your last REGULAR period and write down how your body is feeling and has changed, if at all. Are your breasts sore? Are you more tired than usual? Do certain smells or tastes not appeal to you anymore? These are things that could help to know when you meet with the next doctor. And by all means, take the father, a friend or female family member with you (if you're not with anyone) to listen to the diagnosis with you. They might remember things that you won't because of fear, happiness, excitement or disappointment.

Good luck and take care of yourself!

A + is a +. Most tests even say on the box that even if the line is not dark it only needs to be there. Pregnancy tests are registering + for the pregnancy hormone hcg. Early in pregnancy the level can be low and cause a false negative or a very faint +. However , for a while your hcg hormone will double about every 3 days and had you waited another week or 2 the line probably would have shown up much darker.
You are going to have a baby.
Just remember if this is not what you want , adoption is a wonderful option. There are so many people (like me ) who would consider the life you may think is a horrible mistake to be the most amzing blessing God could have given them.
If you are happy about this (once the shock fades) then congratulations!!!!!

Well hormones in your body can get a little off sometimes and can trigger a false positive. If the planned parenthood people said you were a faint positive it means you could be pregnant but they weren't 100% sure. In a few days the hormones will be stronger and they can do a more accurate test. I would take your over-the-counter test tomorrow and see if it is positive. If it is, it is likely that you are pregnant and you should see a doctor so you can get all of the pre-natal info you will need.
If it is negative then I would wait a few more days and take another over-the-counter test and see how that one turns out.
Good Luck!

The positive line is really faint. Is this okay? An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

Good luck

what did they say at planned parenthood? A faint positive could mean you aren't very far along. I'm sure it could be wrong they aren't a hundred percent but I think the chances of it being wrong are really low. Just calm down go get a BLOOD test and take it from there. At this point freaking out will get you no where. Just please, please understand that if you are you are carrying a life and there are a lot of options that you can consider and ultimately only you can make the right decision for you and your (maybe) baby.

Even a faint positive is positive. The way the pregnancy test works is that if you are pregnant, it detects a pregnancy hormone in your urine. That hormone is only present if you are definitely pregnant. Nothing else will make the test show positive except that hormone. Since that hormone is most present in morning urine, if you take the test tomorrow morning, I guarantee that you will see that second line REALLY clearly. Good luck!

I would say that a positive is a positive. There has to be hormone there for the test to pick up on.
I got a faint positive with my first test with my daughter (1st child). I drank ALOT of water and did a second test and the positive was almost instant that time!

First of all, don't get all depressed and stuff, as you aren't sure yet. Relax!

Tomorrow, buy the other test and try it. In case it is positive (and just put the liquid in there, put the test away and go do something else. DON'T LOOK AT IT until enough time has passed.

Then, in case you aren't pregnant, go for a walk and have some fun, as I would strongly advise you to think A LOT about your life.

In case you are indeed pregnant (and let's hope you're not, by now, ok?), go for a walk and think about you're going to do. Abortion (or not) is up to you, but you must REALLY think about it in a serious way.

A positive is a positive. That means that the test found some of the pregnancy hormone. It is not unusual for it to show up as "not pregnant" if the test is done to early....but it never reads positive when it isn't. It has to detect some of the pregnancy hormone to be positive......

You need to measure the amount of HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) hormone in your blood to determine if you are pregnant. This would involve going to a doctor and getting a blood test done. I think this would be the most accurate way to tell if you're pregnant.

Good Luck!
