Yes, of course we should raise the minimum wage to a living wage.
It would boost consumer spending and create economic growth, while reducing grift and black-market activities.
It would raise prices trivially, at the most. Other developed nations have living-wage requirements, and it's helped their economies.
Companies that threaten to "outsource" jobs overseas should have their corporate charters revoked. I don't know why they're allowed to operate overseas anyway, when domestic taxpayers are footing the bill for all the legal and physical infrastructure they use.

I think the minimum wage is ridiculous....I also think that many jobs pay ridiculously little. When you have been working someplace for 5 plus years...and still can't afford housing...something is wrong. HOWEVER....a federal statute raising minimum wage, while it would be lovely, could have dastardly economic effects on the small business...then we wouldn't have any place to make crappy money. I think maybe the answer is to raise minimum wage...in small, consistent increments. Lay out a plan..for a raise every 6 months to a year, so businesses can plan for it..and so can employees.
Not much of a debate if we keep agreeing...... :)

No, it isn't fair. It is simply not enough to live on these days, much less try and raise a kid or two on. The last time they raised the minimum wage was in 1996. Has the value of a dollar changed in 10 years? Hell yes!! And how many times has Congress voted a raise for themselves? Just thinking about these things makes me feel sick.

Raising minimum wage makes paying the summer help difficult...therefore, some will be payed more and be better off...while the less fortunate will be without a job. Look at it from the employer's pov...he payes $1000 a week for 5 employees...now to keep those same 5 employees, he would pay $1500 a week...he would cut employees to keep it close to or under $1000 based on neccessity...or his business would fail - and many jobs would dissappear

Whenever you get the government involved in labor, you're just one step closer to socialism. Look at France and the laws they have in place, and the riots that have resulted, and the unemployment rate (18%). Now, I know I would so much rather be working, getting 200$ a week working on getting a better job, then to be unemployed, hoping to get a 300$ a week job. I grew up poor, worked my arsh off, and now have a good job with good pay. I'm nothing special, if I can do it, anyone can.

Yes, I agree that the minimum wage should be raised. Prices keep going up. Congress always give themselves raises with out asking us. I am sure there are many people out there making minimum wage who accomplish alot more than our politicians.

no its not fair. That is the welfare mentality if you pay 100 a week for childcare and 40 on gas to get to work (not counting insurance and car payment) then its not worth it.
They should raise min. wage by at least $2.50

This past year Florida (Jeb Bush's Florida) raised Florida Minimum wage to $6.40 an hour, and tied future increases automatically to the COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment). Makes sense to me.

No. I do not think we should raise minimum waige. Besides you choise the jobs and you chose to work for that pay. Also is that you shouldve worked harder to get a better job. Rather than sitting in class sleeping and dreaming. You see all those middle to higher classes working hard in good jobs. besides you deserve for what you do. I mean if you work at mcdonalds, minium waige it is, if you work at a computer corp, pfft get tons of money.

I agree it's not enough. BUT, if the employers have to pay more money, they will increase the prices on the items they sell and/or let some people go b/c they can't afford the salaries and benefits. So, you might make more $, but you have to spend more too. So, what does it really benefit?? The vicious circle of life. :(
