hmmmmmm.........MAYBE a semi-dive - let me explain.
FACTS:
Henry went into the box, the porto defender missed the ball, and as Henry was about to jump over him, the defender's leg touched Henry's shin and he fell. That is what I observed.

INTERPRETATION:
I can't say HOW hard the defender hit Henry's shin. Strong enough to trip him? If so, then yes, a clear-cut penalty, but still, Henry "milked" the fall in the box.
IF, on the other hand, Henry was not tripped by the defender, but fell over his leg - a total dive.

so, tough call. certainly the porto players didn't protest much, leading me to believe that the defender did trip him.
however, Henry made the most of that fall, so I say "semi-dive."
but that's football. Henry was trying to get a result for his team, and he was fouled. If the teams had been reversed, and say Deco had been fouled, he would have done the same exact thing.
Remember after all is said and done: this is only a game-one that elicits tremendous passions, but just a game. Not life and death. I just lost someone today, a very dear long-time friend, so, as much as I LOVE football, there are more serious things in life. So, a dive? Maybe..........but it's only a game, and Portugal have made their nation proud, as have all the nations that took part in this magnificent sports spectacle.
(sorry for rambling... :)
peace!

Dive, schmive...

The penalty was given because the foul occurred in the box.

The Portuguese defender went for the ankle, missed and then went for the other ankle and connected.

Find a willing volunteer to "tap" you on the ankle. Get back to us and let us know if you stand or "dive."

Why, you missed the game? No, he did not 'take a dive'. What goes around comes around, you forgot how Portugal won over Dutch?

What matters is what the referee saw. And dive or not dive, is in the books now.

No, it wasn't a dive. He may have overexaggerated but the call for a penalty kick was the right call.

Maybe .. doesn't change the fact that France played better ... much better ... than Portugal.

Portugal got through to the semifinal, what more could they want.
4th place is already too good for them.
Go home, no point playing Germany ...
