Clean your cookies, delete history, disk cleanup, scan disk and defrag your computer. that will make it run a little better.

TOOLS INTERNET OPTIONS GENERAL SETTINGS AND MOVE THE BAR AS FAR OVER TO THE RIGHT AS POSSIBLE.

GO TO CONTROL PANEL CLICK SYSTEM AND CLICK ADVANCE CLICK PERFORMANCE SETTINGS CLICK THE ADVANCED TAB CLICK CHANGE CLICK CUSTOM SIZE AND IN THE FIRST BAR ENTER 2 AND IN THE SECOND BAR ENTER 4096. RESTART PC AND YOU HAVE JUST CHANGED YOUR VIRTUAL MEMORY. THAT MEANS WHEN YOU ARE SURFING ON THE WEB AND YOUR RAM GETS FULL YOUR PC WILL USE YOUR HARD DRIVES EMPTY SPACE AS RAM.

IF WHEN YOU START YOU PC AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO START UP TO WHERE IT IS FULL OPERATIONAL CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY PROGRAMS THAT AUTOMATICALLY TURNING ON AT START-UP. TO CHECK AND DISABLE THESE GO TO START RUN AND TYPE MS CONFIG
HIT THE START UP TAB AND DISABLE THEM THIS WILL BOOST YOUR START UP INTO WINDOWS DRAMATICALLY.
THE ONLY OTHER THING YOU CAN DO IS TO MAKE SURE YOUR FAN IS KEEPING YOUR CPU COOL AND THE REST OF THE MOTHERBOARD PARTS ARE COOL LIKE THE FSB. WHAT I DID WAS BOUGHT A CHEEP FAN AND DIRECTED IT ON MY FSB'S HEAT SINK TO KEEP IT COOL AS WELL. THE ONLY OTHER THING I DID WAS BY A 1 GIG RAM STICK FROM THE MEMORY PRO ON EBAY FOR ABOUT 75$ BEST DEAL ON THE WEB IF YOU ASK ME. THAT REALLYYYYYYY MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN MY SYSTEM.

Get rid of as much junk of your computer as you possibly can such as old games you don't play. When you have a lot clutter on your PC it really slows down the entire system.

Delete Windows entirely. After you make copies of all important data.
Download and Install "Linux Puppy" it is open source (free no cost) you will be amazed at it's efficiency.

defrag your computer
go to my computer, right click on your drive and go to properties. then go to tools, and do defragment now. once your there, defrag.

get rid of spyware. http://www.lavasoft.com has a free spyware remover, which will speed up your computer.

stop unused programs. go to start, run, and type in misconfig. go to to start up programs, and unselect all the ones you dont use.

Delete screen savers, and background images, clean and defragment your hard drive. Clear the entire cache of explorer, delete the history, get rid of any explorer add ons and toolbars.

Besides deleting cookies, clearing history, defrag, disk scan & cleaning, you should also check your page file in the task manager.

if you have windows, delete it, you'll have a shload more space, you'll free up about half of your RAM. The drawback is that Windows will no longer run.

start>run>type regedit> hit enter> HKey_local_machine> software>microsoft> run > delete anything you can indentify as a program you don't need running and restart your computer.

dfreg your computer at least every month

make sure your HD isn't full

steal parts
