I have managed to flip our king mattress over by myself which is no small chore. Moving the mattress away from the bed though, I probably couldn't do.

Movie it where? Across the room? Just stand it up on it's edge and drag it where you want it to be. It helps if you have walls or a dresser to lean the mattress against.

I have no problem moving a crib or air mattress, but don't call me if it's California King!

we went to a king sized futon mattress and frame recently- what a relief!! roll that puppy up! any sized mattress is cumbersome and weldy, 2 people needed.

Sure, I used to do it when I was about 12...I would get these urges in the middle of the night to move my room around. I would pull all of my furniture into the hallway and redo the room. My mom thought I was absolutely nuts! (I still am...)

Just takes patience, and a little extra space.
