In order to secure your card, you need to secure the entire network you connect to. First connect to your router console page (preferable via LAN wired connection), if you do not need a password, this is the first problem you need to correct, which is usually under admin options. Ok, so now your logged into router using your secure userid and password, you need to find the encryption or wireless security settings. You need to enable WPA (not wep, as it is easily cracked) and enter the security code you want to use. WRITE IT DOWN. Ok now save your settings and the router will reboot. Open your pc's wireless utility and enable WPA entering the exact same security code. Save and connect. Now take the piece of paper that you wrote the code down on and chew it up and swallow it (or put it in a locked file cabinet). You should now be basically secure on the wireless side.

Its not the card that has the security, but the wireless network.
Two things you should do.
- WPA encryption
- MAC address blocking/entry
You should be good after that.
*Edit*
You first have to access your router. Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, Belkin, etc. Just use whatever the url. I know Linksys is http://192.168.0.1 and Bekin is http://192.168.2.1
Now look for wirless security and enable WPA. You only need to decide on a password much like your yahoo password.
Now if you want to go a step further, you could enable MAC address blocking. This allows only computers with a specific MAC address to have access to the network. Hence even if someone knows the password, their MAC address would have to be on the allowed list. Check your router manual for doing this, though it shouldn't be too difficult. Once you know how to do it, just add your computer's MAC address.
Oh yeah, your MAC address is the same thing as your Physical Address. You can find this by double clicking on the wireless network icon under Network Connections. Then clicking the Support tab then clicking the Details button.

If you want you can email me or send a message to me and I will try to walk you thru it. First I would need to know your router manufactor. There are several different things you can set up for security. You actually don't change and enable it on your wireless card. Its based inside the router, and how it's broadcasted is how the wireless card picks it up. You can get WEP 64, 128 or WPA - WPA - PSK or even WPA-PSK2 depending on what router you have and firmware... send me a message I'll try to help you out best as possible.

look under your router for your IP (internet protocol) address. usually some thing like 192.168.0.1. type the number you see under your router into a web browser. type in admin for the username and dont type in any thing for the password. go to some thing like advanced, wireless settings, ect. i'm not exactly sure what because not all config pages are the same. you'll see some thing that says WPA or WEP encryption. select either one (i prefer WPA) and make a password, and click save settings, apply, OKAY, what ever is there to save the settings. your router will restart and you'll be good to go.
