Giving its body a proper burial or having a seance is cliche. Any creative ideas?

I have known one poltergeist in my life - if I hadn't had that experience I probably would be a skeptic on that subject. Ghosts I've always known exist - but spirits that make noises and move things? I had to be shown proof before I could believe that.

The one I knew was extremely powerful, both physically and psychically - the stuff of horror movies.

When we first moved in to that house, he tried to scare us off - and almost succeeded, but we had nowhere else to go. After a few weeks of the daily ghostly walkings and moving of objects and strange visions, I finally sat down and had a 'talk' with my poltergeist companion. Actually I was in tears, because I just couldn't take any more stress. I asked him to please stop trying to frighten us - to please let us live there in peace. After that, the house went quiet and stayed quiet for about two weeks.

Finally, I heard footsteps upstairs again, as things in the attic were being moved around - again. I was actually glad to hear he was back. I realized that he was capable of understanding me and respecting my feelings, and that made all the difference. For as long as we lived in that house, we had a poltergeist companion, and he really did become like a part of the family.

Maybe just talking to your poltergeist would be the best idea.

Cleanse your home!!! First of all and it may sound corny, but take a long cleansing bath with sandlewood or some other scent that is relaxing. What this is for is to relax your mind, meditate while you are there relaxing, think about what it is you are going to do, not try to do but going to do. Afterwards, take a sage wand (and something that you can use later to put the wand out) and light it. Visualize in your mind that you are going to 'sweep' out the negative energies. then using a large feather, start in the corner of the room you begin in and slowly sweep the smoke outwards towards the windows and doors working your way through your home, all the while keep visualizing the the negative energy is leaving as you move about. Continue a nice slow progression until you have done your entire house or apartment. This may or may not work, but it might give you a place to start. Good luck and blessed be!

I tell the poltergeist that if you want to live here it is not a free stay. You have to wash the dishes or clean the toilet pal. Pull your weight or go find another house, and no screeching after 10 PM. I'm in bed and it gets rather annoying. One last thing, stop terrorizing the dog. He's scared enough jeez.

You may not be able to, some are pretty stubborn about staying where they are. Some things you can try are burning sage, and if that doesn't work, get a priest. When you burn the sage (get it at the grocery store and make sure it's the whole leaves), go to every room in the house and get the smoke in every crevice. Concentrate on the windows (go around them) and make sure you do the door to your home last. If that doesn't work, you'll have to get a priest.

Something tells me that you are making fun of something that you apparently know nothing about. Let me fill you in with a few revelant facts about demons and the like.
The New Testament clearly states that believers will wrestle " against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places " ( Ephesians 6:12). Paul goes on to itemize the pieces of spiritual armor that we are to put on in order to defend ourselves against the evil one. ( verses 13-17)
The powers and forces that Paul wrote about in the first century are still evident at the dawn of the twenty-first century, as evident in the popularity of the New Age Movement, and the increase of satanism and the occult.
Christians today wrestling against the dark spiritual forces is not a first-century phenomenon, and it is unavoidable. The kingdom of darkness is still present, and satan is intent on making your life miserable. If your small mind cannot see or even concede in the reality of the kingdom of darkness, then you shall take a bum rap for all the corruption satan foisters on you.
Psychologists are limited to a natural worldview when explainng mental problems, with no concept of God, let alone demonic influence. They fall short classifying symptoms, such as schizophrenia, paranoia, psychosis, etc..They fall short because they don't explain WHY or WHAT is causing the problem! Their assessment may not be wrong, but it is incomplete. It ignores the influence of the spiritual world because neither God nor the Devil submit to our methods of investigation.
Althought there are cases today like the wild demoniac called " Legion " in ( Luke 8), most people suffering from demonic activity lead normal lives while experiencing serious personal problems for which no cause or solution can be found. They think that satanic involvement is only evident in mass murderers or violent sex criminals.
The world today sees reality in two ways.
1) The Transcendent world where ghosts and ghouls reside and understood through religion and mysticism. 2) Science and the physical senses ( natural world). The spiritual world has no practical bearing on the natural world, people have excluded it from their understanding of reality.
The reality of it all is that Christ's people are overlooking demonic influence and defilement in their lives. I would be very careful in making fun of things that are very real and very involved in this century. Check it out for yourself...if you dare!!

Check out the Native American way of doing things. Have a cleansing and pray for them to be at peace and move on. Some think it's BS witchcraft. The Indians were around long before we had cults here.

No no no. To get rid of a poltergist you give it a chore list.

Just simply explain to the entity "if your going to live here you could at least do the dishes. I don't know what you did in life but you could at least try to be a useful ghost -just look at the dust in this place".

I got rid of a few roomates that way - should work.

everything that i am typing is nothing but MY opinion and my opinion ONLY...

well it depends...is the poltergeist visicious...or just pulling practical jokes on you and don't mean you any harm?
IF you can prove to the catholic church you are being harrassed by a poltergeist or an evil spirit they MIGHT do an excorcism for you...take this as a warning: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO AN EXORCISM YOURSELF....YOU DO NOT HAVE THE TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT YOU'RE DOING...
to do a exorcism yourself is a very very HUUUUUUUGE mistake and you could in up in deeper trouble than you all ready are in...

Perhaps if you have a strong will you can over power it.
I've heard "they" feed on fear. Dominate it and make it your b*tch.

I wouldn't go the religious route. If the poltergeist wasn't religious before he died, why would he respect a priest? It might just piss him off.

If it's dangerous though, just sell the house.
