I am sure it is like 'the sky is falling' - 'Chicken Little' type thing, but I can't find it anywhere.

The phrase has been used in numerous songs and as a movie title, but i can't find the origin of it, anyone who knows, please tell me, it is really bugging me.

"The title is a reference to depictions of skies in some of the paintings of Claude Monet; Crowe has noted that the presence of "vanilla skies" in the film is one clue to understanding turns that the plot takes."

in the movie, there is a painting by monet in 'david's' (tom cruise) house that has a 'vanilla sky' painted in the background. he said that this was his mother's favorite, so in his lucid dream this is one thing that is very prevelent and means so much to him.
