The fluid is possible to change yourself. You need to remove the drain boly near bottom of differential. Then refill through the upper plug. You will need to purchase 2 quarts of dual pump fluid from a honda dealership and fluid suction and fill gun from a autoparts store. Yes you have to get the fluid from a dealership, the fluid at the stores will not be compatable and will damage your differential. The service should preformed at every 25,000 to 30,000 miles to pervent grinding and howling noises, as will as internal damage.

If for some reason you're not supposed to have gear oil in the axle but there is(hollow axles or what???), then it's most likely the side seal on the differential. Requires removal of axle and changing the seal which should be easily accessible once the axle is removed.

You have to pull the differential and may need to replace the axle seals. I don't see this as a do-it-yourself job, and I'm pretty talented.
