The S on his uniform isn't an "S"..it's actually the his family's crest...In the Superman movie with Christopher Reeves...Superman's Father Jo rel?....has the same insignia...

Adopted mom made the S for his suit...because he was so super. Um...family name on Krypton...was basically El. They didn't really have last names it was more like Iraqi names where they go with the "tribe".

the "S" logo is actually his family crest on Krypton which the resemblance to of Alphabet is coincidental. On Krypton they were their crest on there clothes. Lois named him Superman

the s, doesnt stand for superman it is merely a symbol signifying jor-el's son, it just "happen" to be an S.
other kryptonians had symbols as well.
