Just do it. They consider both parents responsible for the child's support. You may actually get more than 50 dollars a month if you cooperate and get this moving.

I had the same problem... bottom line- it sucks!!!

I can give you some personal advice: he is your ex, for a reason (if not many). Forget about him and keep doing your best.

The reason why your income is required is because the state, any state, views the support of a child and a dual responsibility. Not just the of the legal-guardian or the other parent. EVERY judge when ordering child support, will take into account the income of both parents involved.

Just with statutes, every state has it's own variation of it.
You can do two things:
1. Visit this website and google similar ones to get an idea.
http://www.alllaw.com/calculators/Childsupport/

and 2. Go to the court house in which you were divorced and ask them for a Child Support calculation form. They should not deny this. The BCSE (bureau for child support enforcement) has them too. as well as the DHHR.

Good luck!

You have to send in your information, because the amount of child support is based on a formula...which uses both parent's incomes to determine the outcome. For example...your ex would pay more if you made 10 bucks an hour, than if you made 20...etc. His income will be the larger determinate. You can probably access the formula at your local friend of the court website..he should be paying more than 50 bucks a month..that is pathetic. You'll probably get it raised if you cooperate...I know it stinks, but it's the rules.

Your income and ability to pay certain things effects what he has to pay to you. If you are asking for more money, they want to know why - as in did you have a reduction in income, or expenses that you didn't before. They look at your job, and how much it costs you for insurance (if he will have to cover insurance or pay medical bills in addition to child support), and how much you bring in and pay out (rent, house payment, car payment, etc.).

Just fill out the information. You will be glad in the long run, even though right now it feels like a big hassle to you.

Because. They do that. States have a minimum amount, and let me tell you, it's nowhere near $50 a month - more like $250 a month, or 25% of your gross pay, split between your kids.

But they won't increase it retroactively. So fill out the paperwork, send it in, and let them do their thing.

If your state is like mine, The amount of support is based on the total of the parents' earnings, and each of you pay a proportionate share. If he is hiding earnings, that is good for a contempt citation, at least, or perhaps perjury, if it can be proven. The court has the authority to demand your records to determine your part of teh support. I think you need to talk to your lawyer...

They just want to see what your financial situation is. He is a sorry a** for not paying his part. They should confiscate any property he has that is of value and sell it to make up for his deliquency!

They probably want to see if its necessary for you to receive more child support money, to see if effected you financially at all or would it just make you a more luxurious lifestyle.
