When I put my arms out srtaight to the sides, bags of flabby flesh hang down from the underneath of the upper arm. I am reasonably slim - is there a way (short of surgery), to get rid of these?

Some hand held barbells, start with about 2 or 3 pounds per side. Work out and good luck, just keep working those arms. Hold the barbells at waist level, palms in, and raise them to shoulder level, be careful at first and just start with a few.

The majority of people think that all the have to do is go on a diet to loose weight. That is only half true. To truly loose weight and keep it off, you must first get yourself on a well balanced diet that has all the food groups contained in it, do not stuff or gorge yourself. do this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cut junk and snack foods out of your daily intake, yes you can have them, ONLY EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE!! But other than that, you really do not need them. The second thing you need to do is get to a gym, talk to the trainer there to get yourself set up on a work out routine. I am sot saying that you need to work out 7 days a week 24 hours a day, but, rather something to that surpasses your total calorie intake and that will burn of any unwanted fat cells.

Lift some weights!
Smaller weights with many repititions will help you tone your arms...
It will take 6 months to a year for you to really start seeing good results

But it will be worth it.

I wouldn't trust surgury for something like that.
Definatly make a commitment and get to the gym.

Fireman push-ups! Get in push-up position but put one hand on the floor directly in front of your forehead and one directly in front of your chin. Can you feel the burn?!
