North Korea launched the missiles for political reasons. You can bet your life that America will use this act for its own political reasons.

I think the leader of any country during the reign of George Bush, sure should want to have nuclear weapons to provide some protection against being bushwhacked. Seems insane to me, for any country to give up a nuclear weapon at this time, unless they were totally sure George and his gang of 4 are not going to attack. I don't think North Korea will be Bushwhacked since finally some, hopefully enough Americans are realizing the man they put into office, may be the most dangerous man on the planet since the end of WWII. As a 65 year old, I always wondered how Hitler was able to dominate an educated people, like the people of Germany, now in present day USA, I TOTALLY understand how it was done. There is no downplaying, Bush will feel directed by god to take some action, unless there enough men of courage to stop him this time.

I don't know what you mean by downplaying? I think Bush and Rice are are using it the best they can to get the whole world to let us attack them. You need to keep in mind that N. Korea does not have any oil or any thing we want. This is why we attacked Iraq and are working on Iran. They both have oil. We could not let anyone else get involved because we would not get most of the oil. In this case we want the rest of the world to rebuild North Korea because we just want to wipe them out and get out of there.

Someone above said we would send 500 back if they shot one at us. Remember we flew over 200 bombing runs a day in Iraq for a couple of months. Plus all the missiles we shot at them. Try thounds of bombs a week. not 500.

The only problem with them shooting missiles is that we don't like them because they are doing their own thing. And telling us it is none of out business what they do. We would never let anyone tell us we can't have war games and test our missiles. And why can everyone have nukes but Iran and N. Korea? But I guess the diff is when we shoot ours off we are not shooting them over some other country. We normally shoot them out into open water.

North Korea would have been stronger looking to the USA if they had not fired any missiles. Firing them and them failing just showed the world that they are not there yet and was a waste of money. When just putting them all around the country we would have been worried. If they never fired them we would not have known that they were duds.

North Korea is one country that really needs cleaned up.

Pinky, I would say the USA has to downplay for the moment. What we need to concentrate on is what North Korea´s neighbors will be doing about it. There must be many things we do not know, however, this 'incident' will not be the end of it. Whether they're 'playing/testing us? or not, this will come back to them many times over in ways the N.K.'s would never guess.
Good question, and let us hope for the best.
Stay well!

Not at all. There are many countries involved and concerned. It is an issue for all the countries within the range of a missile; e.g., South Korea, China, and Japan to name three more.

We are in no danger from North Korea, and it's high time some other countries stepped up to the plate and made some noise about world problems besides us.

of course they are. here we are in a war with Iraq for alleged weapons and N. Korea is shooting them off and US acts as if it's no big deal. How are decisions made? Go after those that can't and ignore those that do?
