We expect others to bring us happiness. While that may be true to some extent, being able to live your life alone for some time is always a good thing.
When you do find someone you can share your life with, even that happiness is not ongoing daily. It's called living. When 2 minds and 2 hearts have a difference of opinion, unhappiness can sometimes result.
We need to understand what gives us happiness and peace within ourselves before we can let others create any kind of happiness for us.

No. No one else is allowed to touch my happiness. My mom said if I let them it would fall off. I don't hold it for very long myself, either.

K. Seriously. Happiness to me is making things happen for yourself as well as others- goals, dreams, aspirations, service, etc. It also means being the part of someone else that is necessary. And the reciprocal. I. e. my kids to me are necessary, as well as I am to them so I guess that would mean it has a lot to do with both. My asking the question "What would I do without you?" substantiates this to me as well as hearing it from others.

Both, sometimes you just have to hold your happiness yourself, then there are those times when you can get someone to hold it for you. I prefer to have someone else holding it . By the way that pic is realllllllllly nice.

giving to others is part of what makes you happy but you shouldn't let someone else hold anything over you that keeps you from enjoying life. treat yourself to the little things now and then, favorite movies, books, appreciate the world around you whatever it is. no one else can live your life which is why we have to make ourselves happy when we can, provided it's not destructive to ourselves or others.

I don’t really think its really in my control…life brings me happiness and sometimes not…with the people I meet, things I experience, the feelings I feel they’re all a huge piece of my life…and when all those things are going well I’m usually happier…so yeah….we like to believe we hold the power to change our lives…but then again no one can control there emotions cause if we could they’re wouldn’t be any loneliness, heart break or negative feelings.. :)

You absolutely hold it yourself. If you are not happy with yourself, then no other person can make you happy. It's all within.

happiness is being able to put one foot in front of the brick,(bike story) and consider yourself normal. You have a great, and resourceful view on life. Try not to loose your innovation.
