Eyes are the doorway to the soul. Okay, but why?

You notice how when we speak to another human we focus and connect with the eyes. Why not toes? Or hands? I know there is expression in the face, but there are times when I feel like a tiny person controlling this body through a couple of screens (eyes).

This may be weird and I am sane, but I want to see what other people think about human life and the interaction.

Because the eyes speak, hear, listen, understand, comprehend and observe what is being transmitted, whether verbally, non-verbally or suggestively. The truth can be found within ones eyes.

There is an honesty and sincerity that is conveyed by the eyes as we keep them locked on each other during conversation. Also, there are physical changes in the eye to emit an heir of attraction or interest. When one finds another person or something(painting, auto, architecture, etc.) attractive or interested the pupils will dilate so as to allow the viewer to totally appreciate the whole beauty of that which they find interesting. When you come upon someone who is disinterested you will notice a serious lack of eye contact. This should send you a message that the person does not want to have anything to do with you. For instance, have you ever went to a retail outlet and tried to ask a clerk for help only to have them not pay attention to you? Well, if you noticed the lack of eye contact in the beginning you would know that this person is not worth your time. If the person is sincere they will keep their eyes locked on you during the entire conversation. At times you may notice that the person begins to look around quite often. This is an indication that they are losing interest. Politely end the conversation quickly and move on.
These are just some of the examples of how important eye contact can be if one is paying attention. Eyes are the windows to the soul in this case. I hope that you found this to be useful and helpful. Good question BTW. Thanks!

When it was said, "The eyes are the window to the soul," the reference was perhaps a little mis-intended, mis-understood or mis-placed...
The fact that a "window" is mentioned is the most important aspect of the line, because a window has a frame... it is the frame of the face... the frame of the forehead, the ears, the cheeks, the nose and the mouth...
This "frame" of course, frames the eyes.
While you can in fact "read" someone by looking into their eyes, without the "frame" you may be reading them wrong...
Without the dip of the eyebrow, or the wrinkle of the nose or the flush of the check or the rise of the forehead, the eyes don't say as much as most think...
As you mentioned, there IS expression in the face... and it's the expression that makes the window clear...
Now... as to why we "connect" with eyes... and not fingers or toes...
Well, toes can be considered rather nasty by some individuals, and I would have to question someones intentions if they stuck their toes in my face upon meeting me.... I don't find toes "nasty," but I would be offened is someone offered theirs to me in an attempt to "connect."
As for fingers... well... while a finger can posible bring pleasure to an individual, that usually comes AFTER connecting... or, conversly, giving someone the finger can in fact accomplish the exact opposite of connection...
I'm pretty confident that most people will agree, the eyes are a better tool for connection... but remember... they ARE just a tool...

It's hard to explain but the eyes show a lot of emotion that the rest of the body, even the face does not. Have you ever heard the expression, " he laughed but it never reached his eyes"? Eyes twinkle, crinkle, cry, pupils dilate and contract, all these can be read like a book and tell what a person is really thinking. Funny thing is, I work with some blind people and I can read their eyes the same way I could a sighted person.

Not all cultures do. Some cultures do not look at each other directly in the eyes. Some cultures prefer to hold hands and talk; using their sense of touch.

And, of course, when two humans bond, they utilize all of their senses with each other.

Don't worry about your present perception about "being a tiny person controlling" your body. Some people feel like monsters outside of their bodies!!

That tiny person you feel inside is your soul. The eyes are the windows to the soul according to the Bible, so we want to deeply connect to that person and bond with their inner spirit.
Notice when people lie to you they cannot look you in the eye. They look away from you and jot their eyes. That is an inner guilty feeling caused by the soul's fear that someone else would actually find out their deepest secrets by looking in their eyes.
Very interesting question!
God Bless

Vision, speech and touch are the ways to connect a person but of these eyes are most powerful because u can touch a nearby person, then furthur more distance u can talk to a person but to convey the message beyond these two vision is powerful. So eyes can penetrate deep into the body without touching or words.

Eyes are definatly a central focus when you talk to someone, the first thing you usually notice are eyes, in this culture its a sign of respect, to look in someone's eyes while they are talking to you is a sign of respect- ooh and this is wierd and totally off the wall, and has nothing to do with the question you asked but an interesting fact, if someone you know has the hiccups tell them to relax and look right into their eyes! The hiccups will be gone.

Facial expressions are centered on small movements around the eyes.
So I would guess that its something that is coded into our genes like a old survival mode from prehistoric days.
Now in this age its used as a courtesy. I mean you wouldn't feel right if someone started a conversation while looking at your feet would you?
Its just a simple interaction that sentient beings do.

The eyes, eyelids, and eyebrows move along with your thoughts. It is much harder to control this than most other body language. There are an incredible number of eye movements possible that almost make up a language of their own.

I think the eyes, at least for me, are the most accurate sensory organs. The ears, the eyes, the tongue, and nose, can all be fooled under various circumstances. I trust my sight far more than any other sense, and often use it to determine a person's trustworthyness.
