I need to get a divorce and I need to go bankrupt...but I have no income available for fees.
What do I do? Time is only making things worse. I am employed but it takes all I have to live...I have no lump sum monies. Are there lawyers who finance? Someone please give good advice.

Find an attorney that takes payments. They are out there, you just need to find one. Another option is to go to legal aid. All they can do is tell you no.

In many states, you can serve as your own attorney for a simple, uncontested divorce. Check your state's divorce laws to see if it can be done in your state. The same is true for declaring bankruptcy. If you have not assets that are subject to bankruptcy judgments, you might be able to qualify. Again, check your state's laws. But be careful. It is generally considered to be dangerous to represent yourself in court. You might do all the paperwork yourself but hire an attorney to go into court with you. Good luck.

Also there are a number of websites that offer low-cost divorces and provide forms necessary for each state. Check Google to find your state. I imagine this is the same for bankruptcy as well.

Legal aid and ACLU are all over the country, call them - free lawyer, etc.

Why don't you call some lawyers and get some advice.
