i have replaced the break lights but they soon go out, i dont know what the problem is. the gauges also dont work. im thinking that there is some electric problem but im not sure. what is it?

My advice, and this is only where I would start is by getting the wiring diagram for that truck if possible or some other good reliable book such as Hanes or Chilton's. Then I'd start with my fuses, if those are ok, I'd start following my wires. There may be a short somewhere in the circuit. If all else fails, take it to a certified tech.

Odds are that there may be a short.
