I am considering a divorce. What are the chances of getting the house instead of the wife?

I know it's impossible but she will loose it if she gets it. She does no housework (haven't touch a vacuum sweeper in months, doesn't do dusting), yes she is a compulsive hoarder. We have dogs that she can not take care of. She can not mow grass. She does not want to spend the money necessary to repair anything.

I can easily go, but I would hate to see the house go into a state of disrepair.

Hire an attorney and tell them you want the house. Let the attorney take care of that for you.

If you have kids it will be easier to keep the house if you are trying to get custody and keep them. I would fight for the house for the kids - it'll give them some familiarity and comfort through everything that the family is going through.

If the house was bought between the 2, and there are kids involved, woman gets the house, if she want to.
Usually if most of the house isn't paid for she won't want it.

If you have no kids then the house is community property. She gets half the value. She can either pay you your half and kkep it or you will have to sell it and split the profit.
