That's a good question- a partial answer might be that as a country we have situations around the world that impacts us at home in terms of economics and security. Another partial answer might be that we are often asked for humanitarian aid and support and we give it, even if sometimes those people turn around and resent and hate us for it later. Another answer might be that we are often asked/begged or even demanded of the US that we be the world's police officer. Because we are the wealthiest and most powerful nation in the world we perhaps feel obligated to to do those things, despite having the problems we do. Imagine a world without the US - Hitler, Stalin, the Japanese empire, and other tyrants would own the world. "Undesirable" people- Jews, gays, gypsies, any one they decided fell in that category would be enslaved and/or exterminated. Though we as a country are far from perfect- we are the "best game in town"....

On the rare occasion America tries to solve the world's problems it's because they're much larger than the ones in America.

I don't believe that the USA acts effectively in international crises, but at least they give it a shot.

Problems internally in the States do not even compare to problems in Kenya, Cote D'Ivoire or parts of China.

There's a simple solution to your question. Just look at your average everyday rich guy. He may have many problems behind the scenes, but he still goes out and buys up all this fancy stuff, donates big to charities, and attempts to please his friends. Am I not correct on that. Basically the government here is doing the exact same thing, and that's putting up a big front to make The good ole USA look a lot better than it really is.

honestly it's one of the best questions ever.. it's cause america feels since world war one it is on a better position than the other countries.. hence it choses to help.. and the profit it gains from "solving" others problems doesn't hurt either..

To shift the American peoples attention from the problems at home to some remote place on the planet.
It's much easier screwing with other countries because if you mess up it doesn't matter that much.
If they attempt to solve our own problems and mess up, it could cost them their job in November.
So why even try?

Because 'solving' problems around the world pays..not the people though, but congressmen and rich people. They use the resources of the countries they 'save' to buy bigger houses and boats.

Usually when our leaders get us involved in the affairs of other countries it is because the rich and powerful have some type of economic interest in that country, like Iraq and oil.

It's mainly because we in America know best what's good for the rest of the world and dag-nabbit, we're going to shove it down their throat if we have to.
