Looking for a carreer change and would like to know from someone who's already in the trade if it's a good direction to go or not. Is it tough right now to get an apprenticeship because of the economy?

Oh noooo My hubby is here and he is an electrician. They are always taking anybody on and they start them out at like 8-13 an hour. It takes many years to learn the tricks of the trade. But it is good money most qualified ones for residential make 15-25 an hour! Go for it!

I been an electrician for 14 years. We have 4 apprentices on my job who are still in high school. There are also lots of positions for people wanting to learn the trade. Most large metropolitan areas have free certification school but it takes 3 or 4 years to complete it.
Everyone needs electricity and there are more and more of us all the time. If you do it well you will always have employment.
